Welcome to my blog!  A little bit about me...

I am the product of fantastic educators, family and friends.

In the year 2000 my Elementary School had an innovation contest where students were tasked with creating brand new products.  Some of my classmates created things that I wish I had today like a smart fridge that could deliver drinks directly to your chair from across the room.  What I created was the first iPhone.

I demonstrated how a palm pilot would transform into a music playing cell phone and described how your fingers would be used as the buttons.  I highlighted the elimination of the stylus as the hallmark innovative feature.  I found this contest to be extremely fun and rewarding and it planted the seed of passion that has grown into my career.

Years later, when I was in High School, I saw the first model iPhone.  I marveled at my younger self’s invention having come to life.  It was amazing and it did everything I had described.

Time passed and I wasn’t at all invested in innovation.

I wanted to make a positive difference in the world after college and chose to pursue nursing.  Some time into the program I realized that it was not a good fit for me because it did not satisfy my need for a creative outlet.

In 2011 I took a gap year. During this time I met with a patent attorney through my uncle to discuss the viability of a few things, one of which was the Smart Watch.

Soon after this interaction I started blogging ideas for new products.  Among these blogged ideas were:

AirPods
Stylus Compatible touch/mouse-pads
Coffee Flavored Peanut M&Ms
MSI Eye Tracking Laptop
The concept behind Magic Leap
Tesla's "Summon" Feature
Panasonic's Transparent TV
Force Touch
Spare Car Rental
Cart mounted scan and go systems for grocery stores
Chromecast

To name a few…

A few months after launching this blog, I received a message from a Senior Executive at a major retailer.  He asked if I had time to discuss my blog.  We scheduled a call and had a great conversation.

After that call I decided to start making my own products and to release them to the public directly.

This is why I learned to code.

After immersive study I started development on my first project - an in home jukebox system for private gatherings.

Without investment I successfully branded, developed and deployed one of the top 100 out of over 40,000+ apps for the music category on iOS in 2018.

Spotify has since created a watered down "Jam" feature.

Moving forward, I plan to continue blogging while exploring opportunities with companies (like yours?) where I can be a catalyst of innovation.

My name is Ben Barnett and I was born to innovate.
